CHANGE CAREERS BY GOING TO A TECHNICAL SCHOOL

Many people consider a career change when they feel like they're stuck in a boring or un-fulfilling job.  One of the quickest, easiest, and most successful ways to switch to a career that is more challenging or financially lucrative is by going to a trade or technical school to learn a new set of job skills.

If you're interested in changing careers, there are a few things to keep in mind:

First, decide exactly what it is you want to do.  Even if you're interested in becoming a medical office specialist or a massage therapist, be sure to check that there is not another related field that may be more to your taste.  A course of study in dental assisting may be more to your liking than a career in medical assisting, for example.  You can decide what courses you would like to take by inquiring through Vista College's general information number, 1-(800) 557-1423.

Second, it is important to decide if you want to stay in your own city or travel to another place to go to trade school.  It can make a lot of sense to stay in Clearfield or Salt Lake City for a degree or certificate program. You can save money on living fees and the cost of moving, as well as avoid the stress of moving to an entirely new city.  In addition, you may be able to keep your current job, as well as stay close to friends and family. This eases the transition from your current job to your new career.

Next, you need to decide whether or not to go trade school full-time. Deciding whether to attend class full- or part-time will help you plan your time and your finances.  Anything that makes the monetary aspect of changing careers go more smoothly will help make your overall career transition go more smoothly, as well.

Finally, and most importantly, you need to actually go out there and do it!  It's easy to fall prey to "analysis paralysis," where you sit around and study your various options but never actually get up to register for training for your new career.  This cannot be allowed to happen, although it is very common.  The problem is that when you start to do something, it's easier to continue doing that same thing. Therefore, if you sit around and do nothing but think and talk about what you want to do, it becomes easier and easier to only sit around and talk.  The best solution is to continue to make small steps, such as deciding on a course of training, applying for financial aid, and of course applying to school.

The steps can be summed up as follows:

     • Decide exactly what type of career change and career training you want.
     • Find out more about the programs offered at Vista College.
     • Decide whether or not go to school full- or part-time.
     • Finally, get out there and apply!

Although it is obviously a big step, by following the tips above, you should be able to make the process of changing careers relatively easy.  Going to a trade or technical school is one of the fastest and most effective ways to switch careers.  By following this guide, you will be well on your way to becoming a dental assistant, medical office specialist, or one of many other careers available.
