Admissions Requirements and Procedures Applicants for admission must be at least 18 years of age, or obtain a parent/legal guardian's signature on the Enrollment Agreement, and have a high school diploma or equivalent. To complete registration the prospective student must: 1. Participate in an interview with an Admissions Representative. 2. Pass a scholastic evaluation (Wonderlic SLE) as outlined below. 3. Determine an interest in a specific career program. 4. Provide a copy of a High School diploma or a GED. 5. Tour the campus. 6. Meet with a representative from the Financial Aid office to discuss funding. 7. Sign an Enrollment Agreement - applicants under the age of 18 must obtain a parent/legal guardian signature on the Enrollment Agreement. 8. Complete the admissions packet with the assistance of the admissions representative. 9. Pay a non-refundable $100 application fee. This fee is separate from the regular tuition and is valid for a 12-month period. Students may enroll in classes up to and including the third class day of each start. New students must begin classes by the fourth day after any class start date. Each new student must attend a mandatory New Student Orientation session prior to starting school. The New Student Orientation further explains and clarifies VISTA's policies and procedures and provides tips for academic and career success. All applicants must take and pass a Wonderlic Scholastic Level Exam (SLE) according to the following criteria. A passing SLE score is valid for a 12-month period. After the 12-month period, the applicant will be required to retake the SLE. The prospective student must score at least the minimum score requirement listed in the chart on the next page for admission into a particular program offered by the School. Sometimes this assessment is taken during the first appointment and sometimes the prospective student will come back for a follow-up appointment to take the assessment. The prospective student is allowed 12 (twelve) minutes to complete the electronic version of the assessment. Once the assessment is taken, the Wonderlic assessment score sheet must be printed and included in the student's file. The prospective student may take the electronic form of the assessment no more than three times, attempting to receive a passing score. The first two attempts may be conducted within any agreeable timeframe, even back to back. The third attempt must wait, at least, until the next business day after the second attempt was made. If a passing score is not obtained within three attempts, but one or more of the attempts were within one point of the required score, then a fourth and final opportunity to take and pass the assessment may be provided. The fourth and final attempt is offered to the student as an un-timed, paper and pencil version of the assessment. If the un-timed, paper and pencil version of the assessment does not result in a passing score, a probationary entrance into a School program may be considered at the discretion of the Director of Education or Campus Director. Non-Discrimination Policy Admission to VISTA is based on equal opportunity without distinction or discrimination for race, sex, religion, national origin, age, color, creed, sexual orientation, or disability. Students with Disabilities Applicants with disabilities are encouraged to meet with the Campus Director to help identify any reasonable accommodation issues which need to be addressed in order for the student to be able to participate in school functions and/or activities. The disabled student must notify the Campus Director far enough in advance to allow the school a reasonable opportunity to accommodate the student's needs. |
